my current team is an all IIM team...and if you are in consulting...the chances of this not happening are equivalent to that of america's hottest model with vital stats of 40-40-40..! and its an awesome team...i love all 3 of them...cause they r fun...and extremely smart...and very very professional and hardworking.
however, it jst happens...and invariably atleast once a day...when i get that random.."oh tu to yeh kar lega...tu isb se hai..."..."tu likh le yeh slide...tu to isb se hai...english to sikhaate honge..."
given me...i jst laugh it off....or better still...join in...."nahi...maine english waala elective nahi liya tha..."..! but then i do think...i hope thye r not serious. i mean...i hope at some level they really dont have that iim vs isb attitude.
whats fuels this thought is the fact that my 1st team...which too was an all iim one (40-40-40...yeah...the same joke..!)...never did anything like this. yah...there used to be those..."these guys are kings yaar...they r frm isb...used to ACs all day and room service.."...but then...extremely rare. meant more as a filler statement than anything else...
anyways...probably i am thinking too much into it. work has been quite demnading...but not hectic. the standards r really high...which is good in a way. although its really demoralizing when you dont reach up to them. i can say that i havent been performing the way i would want to...
leaving for home in 2 hrs...! life is a travel bag...

First time around here... My feeling about all of this IIT, IIM, etc kind of generalities is that it does depend upon each person... There will be generalities made by both sides of the equation which is totally wrong... What you hear depends on the group of ppl u r hanging around with... IIT charges about 20K a semester for fees... Which poor person in India can pay that much without a loan... - not only that but consider the amount of money for JEE,CAT preparations (at the stage when you dont know whether you will make it)... some things to think about...
Well..I can understand and relate to this...being from a B-school myself..have seen some of this happening during my internship days...though not with me...but sometimes people tend to take the B-school thing in their heads!
You are thinking too much into it.What they are doing is called being insensitive to your sensibilities.That most people do.They don't realise that their 'fun'/sense of humor can actually have an effect on you.If at all the comments are out of comparison then it only reveals their insecurity.Which is rather sad.One doesn't get better or worse depending on which insitution they came from.U will find the best and worst product from any institution.Comparison doesn't help in the real world and u know that.:)

I cannot say I did not face similar situations. But, what I found useful was to build strong relationships with each individual, that you have to deal with, separately. If you do that, b-school considerations evaporate after some time.

Ankur... I think its just fun... In fact such funny remarks exist in various department of engineering colleges too.For instance, during my undergraduate career, we always had that slight branch rivalry...but at the end it was all in the right spirits... When look back..it forms great memories.. I feel the same thing exists in early days of job after MBA... Both ISB and IIMS are great schools and people from both schools must be sensible enough to take all these things in right spirit...Enjoy ATK.
well..hey...sorry but i think it does exist..and at ridiculous levels of pettiness. The sane way is to be as "ISB" as possible - cos you know you've got that extra inch where it counts ;-)
But seriously, it is more irritating than hurtful - here you are trying to be "(company name)"-ian as possible, and trying to get OUT of B-school and here are these daft punks -who keep pullin' you back.
